On December 10, the Sweet Leaf Tea Company issued a voluntary recall of 16-ounce glass bottles. The recall was due to glass breakage during the filling process making it possible for glass fragments to be present in beverages.
This recall involves 16-ounce bottles distributed between February 27, 2015 and December 6, 2015. The threat of being cut or injured by glass fragments led to the recall. To date, Sweet Leaf Tea Company has received four complaints; no injuries have been reported.
Consumers are advised to check the information on the first and second line of the shoulder of the bottle or on the shipping case to determine if they are in possession of the recalled Sweet Leaf Tea. The recall information may be accessed at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website.
Sweet Leaf Tea Company’s products have been removed from store shelves. Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled bottles of tea, may either request a replacement or return the product to the store where it was purchased, for a refund.
