Tyson Foods Inc. has recalled more than 50,000 pounds of a chicken wing product that may be adulterated, according to a November 17 announcement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recalled product is the 28-oz. bag containing Tyson Any’tizers Fully Cooked Hot Wings CHICKEN WING SECTIONS COATED WITH A FLAVORFUL HOT, TANGY SAUCE with use by/sell by dates of October 24, 2016 and October 25, 2016, packaging dates 2975PBF0508-23/2985PBF0500-01 and case codes 2975PBF0508-23/2985PBF0500-01. The fully cooked Buffalo style chicken wing product was produced on October 24 and 25, 2015. The product is being recalled because of an “off odor,” according to FSIS.
The recalled packages bear the establishment number P-13456 inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as on the back of the bag above the heating instructions. These items were distributed to retail locations nationwide.
Tyson Foods Inc. became aware of the problem after consumers complained about an “off odor.” The company also received reports of mild illness associated with consumption of the chicken wings. Tyson notified FSIS. FSIS has no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the chicken wings. The agency advises anyone concerned about illness to contact a health care provider.
FSIS urges consumers who have purchased the recalled chicken wings not to eat them. The purchaser should throw away the product of or return it to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that a firm has notified customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
Consumers may contact Tyson Foods’ Consumer Relations, (toll free) 866-328-3156, with any questions about the recall.
