CPSC Says Home Depot Continues to Sell Recalled Products

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Home Depot has continued to sell 28 different products that were recalled between 2012 and 2015. The recall involves 2,310 units; Home Depot sold about 1,300 to consumers and sent 1,010 to salvagers or recyclers. In the latter case, CPSC says the products could have still been sold to consumers. Consumers who are affected by the recall are advised to stop using the items and contact Home Depot for a refund, replacement or repair, CPSC says.

According to the CPSC notification, the recalled products can present risk of fire, burn, shock, falls, laceration or other injuries. Customers can contact Home Depot at at 800-HOME-DEPOT or 800-466-3337 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday or online at www.homedepot.com.

One of the recent recalls involves Homelite Electric Blower Vacuums, recalled on April 16, 2015 due to the risk of fire when the vacuum overheats. The Kidde Disposable Plastic Fire Extinguishers were recalled in February because it may fail to operate properly due to a faulty valve component. This defect can cause injury in case of a fire. In March, Westinghouse Lighting Class Shade Holders were recalled due a shock hazard; this results from incorrect wiring on the pull chain switch.

Earlier recalls include the Legrand Under-Cabinet Power Strips, which were recalled in September 2012 due to risk of electrical shock. The LG Top-Loading Washing Machines were recalled in December 2012 because “An unbalanced load can cause the washing machine to shake excessively and the drum to come loose during use, posing a risk of injury to consumers and property damage to the surrounding area.”
